Tierra West has teamed with Overland Pacific Cutler (OPC) and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) for the largest voluntary acquisition and relocation program in the nation at the Los Angeles International Airport. During a highly competitive and rapidly escalating seller’s market, OPC successfully acquired 100 properties – totaling over 450 units – to help develop the much anticipated Automated People Mover project at LAX.
Proceeding on a remarkably aggressive schedule, the OPC and Tierra West teams have provided relocation services for over 1,500 residential cases including 150 government subsidized households.
The Automated People Mover video, shared by LAWA, showcases the design of the shuttle, which will transport passengers between terminals, rental car centers, and the under-construction Crenshaw/LAX Line. Traveling along an elevated track, trains will arrive every two minutes and are expected to transport passengers from the 96th Street Metro Station to LAX under 10 minutes from start-to-finish. For the first time, public transportation will take LAX passengers directly to the airport’s terminals.
The LAWA video makes clear that the project will be finished in time for the 2028 Olympic Games. A host of upgrades to LAX were a selling point of LA’s successful bid for the games.
